The Language of Revelation

The answer to you question as to the language, the Lord
commanded me and
dictated to me using this language. That should suffice, but besides this,
I have my own feelings and ideas also. You can always tell a false
revelation. The language of a true revelations is very precise. Once William
Mclellin challenged
Joseph and said, "I can write as good a revelation as you can." Whereupon
Joseph pulled up a chair and table into the center of the room and said,
"Write!" Mclellin just sat there confounded. The structure of the
language
flows from the lips of God with a certain cadence and rythm which cannot be
conterfeited. The first time I read the 1886 revelation through John
Taylor, I immediately recognized that it was from God, for it used the same
music, if you will, that I hear when under the almighty power of the spirit
of revelation. The language of Shakespeare, or King James is the sublime
peak of the English language, saith the Lord. This generation is not as
cultured as that one. You will find this to be true when you go into the
spirit world, for they are there. Brigham Young said "It is the common
delusion of each generation to think it is more enlightened than all
others." And besides one would have to be the worst liar, or the most
deluded character in the world to write a false revelation. That is why the
missionaries constantly say to prospects "Ask yourself while reading the
Book of Mormon, could any man have written this book?" The answer to the
honest inquirer is a resouding no! Even so it is with my revelations.
False prophets cannot write them. This is why Hinckley, for instance does
not, for he cannot. A Treasury note is easier to counterfeit than a true
revelation from God. By their fruits ye shall know them. I exhort you to
examine the Revelations of Jesus Christ, especially Section 2, and then in
your closets away from the eyes of men, kneel down before your God and my
God and pray and ask if they are not true. And if ye shall ask with real
intent, having faith in Messiah, he will manifest the truth of it unto you
by the power of the Holy Ghost, and by the power of the Holy Ghost, ye may
know the truth of all things. And then you may become the Sons of God with
me as my brethren, for I will lead you into green pastures, where no wolf
can molest or make afraid, and you shall be sheltered as a hen gathers her
chicks under her wings.
Explanatory Note: The language of revelation must be
removed from the common, base language of the people, because I have received them that
way, and because that which is of God is Holy, and pearls, are they not to be kept from
swine, saith the Lord? Yea, O man, I give not that which is holy unto dogs. For as Jesus
said: "For unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven, but
unto them it is not given." And it is that the things of God are of deep import and
only time, much effort and ponderous thoughts can find them out. |
