An Analysis of the Beliefs, Doctrine, Heart and Mind of Van Hale through the Gift of Discernment of Spirits which is the Power and Gift of God (As Proof, Comparing His Public Statements with the Word of God)

4  (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

5  Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

(2 Corinthians 10:4,5)

Mr. Hale says that he is the disciple of Jesus Christ and Joseph Smith.  But at the same time he says that he is a believer in Darwinism.  One is Christ, the other is antichrist: Belial.  These two spirits are at war and cannot be reconciled and joined together, and all are enlisted on one side or the other, there is no middle ground.

24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

(Matt 6:24)

Mr Hale thinks that he is above this conflict, between good and evil, due to objectivity afforded to him by a scientific viewpoint, placing that attitude as the only correct world-view to take.  But these so-called "scientists" are victims of delusion themselves, evolutionism being provable junk science.

"It is not in my being called a Quaker, a Methodist or a "Mormon" that is the true cause of contention between these two great powers-Christ and Belial; but it is in the fact that God has established his Kingdom upon the earth and restored the holy Priesthood which gives men authority and power to administer in his name. 11:238." (Brigham Young, Discourses of Brigham Young, selected and arranged by John A. Widtsoe, p.76)

"The Gospel is calculated to divide this wickedness from those who embrace it, and then it will divide those who embrace it from those who reject it. Christ and Belial cannot be made friends, neither can the Church of Christ and the worshippers of Belial unite together. They cannot amalgamate. Consequently, those who receive the Gospel with all their hearts, after believing the testimony of God's servants, will divide themselves from those who do not receive it. In this Gospel, life and salvation are offered to every honest soul; in the world they find tribulation, but in Jesus Christ peace. In obeying the Gospel is comfort, but in the glory of the world sadness and sorrow.

"If the inquiry should arise in our minds, why it is that we are in the position we this morning occupy, it is very easily answered and understood by every person who understands the nature of the Gospel of Christ. It is because it is impossible to unite Christ and Belial-to unite righteousness with unrighteousness, for they never can go hand in hand. Righteousness cannot become unrighteousness, and wickedness never can inherit a righteous kingdom."  (Journal of Discourses, 26 vols., 1:, p.236-237)

Mr. Hale fancies himself to be as some kind of "Nietzschean Superman", floating above any conflict, freed by the superior vantage point gained by the so-called objectivity of what turns out to be a delusion and is really only junk science, i.e. Darwinism.  Darwinism is junk science, easily proven by true science, i.e. mathematics and physics, as being junk science. And merely giving lip service to deity is seen for the sham that it is: an attempt to cover a wolf in sheep's clothing, for a bitter fountain cannot bring forth good water.  "By their fruits ye shall know them".  The Book of Mormon gives a way to judge which is as plain as the road to  town from my house: that which persuades to believe in the testimony of the prophets, which is the testimony of Jesus by definition, "ye may know with a perfect knowledge that it is sent of God".  And on the contrariwise, "to the law and to the testimony.  If it be not according to these it is because there is no light in them."  Isaiah 8:20.  Therefore to pretend that one is both a servant of Christ and the devil is a lie.  And Mr. Hale does lie with the regularity.  He uses half-truths, distortions to beat down his opponents, plus outright lies to confuse the audience and lead them astray.  It could be that he really believes what he says, but if he does, he is a hypocrite as well, because he does not apply the objectivity that he so outwardly prescribes to others, to  his own mind and conscience.  He routinely tells me what I believe and distorts my statements with misquotes and outright lies about what I say, in order to defame me and attempt to derail the Kingdom of God.  Those who have the truth are not afraid of the announcement of any revelation and they do not stoop to persecution.  Secure in the knowledge that God is with them, they can afford to let false doctrine when it manifests itself have the freedom of action that God has given to every creature.  So when Mr. Hale interdicts my speech with a specious objection, and I immediately respond and, due to the satellite connection there is a three second delay, he arrogantly hangs up on me and then pretends it is my fault that he cannot carry on a conversation with me, this is a lie, and he knows it. What is more, this amounts to nothing more than censorship and persecution.  And this is because he is angry, and the book of Mormon speaks of this anger when it says, "In that day the devil will rage in the hearts of the children of men and stir them up to anger against that which is good and they tremble and are angry because they stand upon a sandy foundation and they tremble and are angry, lest they shall fall."

The spirit in which I write and speak:

4 And I know that the Lord God will consecrate my prayers for the gain of my people. And the words which I have written in weakness will be made strong unto them; for it persuadeth them to do good; it maketh known unto them of their fathers; and it speaketh of Jesus, and persuadeth them to believe in him, and to endure to the end, which is life eternal.
5
And it speaketh harshly against sin, according to the plainness of the truth; wherefore, no man will be angry at the words which I have written save he shall be of the spirit of the devil.
6
I glory in plainness; I glory in truth; I glory in my Jesus, for he hath redeemed my soul from hell.  (2 Nephi 33:4 - 6)

And Joseph Smith experienced just such responses from the religionists of his day.  This anger and vituperation  is the spirit of the devil, saith the Lord.

Another bad fruit: his doctrine, which he labels as "Progressive Revelation", which is nothing more than taking license to do away with, change, abrogate, and contradict the covenants God has made with the ancients even Abraham Isaac and Jacob, and the laws of the Everlasting Gospel.  The gospel does not change to suit the vagaries, foolishness and trends, fashions and traditions of mankind, which vary from nation to nation, generation to generation, and individual to individual, but on the contrary, is comprised of absolute truths which do not change or very in the slightest and are eternal.  If the heaven which we desire to gain is eternal it must be gained by obedience to eternal principles which change not.  Therefore, the same gospel which saved Abraham, Able, Enoch and Elijah must save us.  For is the gospel that was preached unto them any better than the one preached unto us?  If so, God is a respecter of persons and generations.  For many of them obtained a state of translation by obedience to the law of God.  And the promises of this must be ours as well, if and only if the prayer which was prayed by Jesus is answered: "Father and thy will be done and thy kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven."  In other words the heavens and the earth mingle and have to run together, so that the heavens will no longer be offended at the earth in its out-of-order, corrupt and wicked state, which Mr. Hale rejoices so much in.  And thus the City of Enoch will return to its place as before, saith the Lord.  Therefore by this key I detect Van Hale to be of the devil who is an enemy to all righteousness, again for "by their fruits ye shall know them."  Thus Joseph Smith was absolutely correct in giving forth this key:

"A key: Every principle proceeding from God is eternal and any principle which is not eternal is of the devil."  (Joseph Smith, Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, selected and arranged by Joseph Fielding Smith, p.181)

One more point, Van Hale quoted Brigham Young is saying that the "kingdom would not be left to another people".

"I testify before this assembly, as I have testified before the people throughout the different States of the Union, and throughout England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Italy, Switzerland, and France, that God Almighty, through my obedience to the Gj : 0in; margin-top:d to me, tangibly, that this is the work of God, that this is his Gospel, that this is his kingdom which Daniel prophesied should be set up in the last days. I prophesy that any man who will be humble before the Lord, any man who will, with childlike simplicity, be baptized for the remission of his sins, shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, which shall lead him into all truth and show him things to come; he shall receive a knowledge from the Almighty that his kingdom has been established in these latter days; and that it shall never be thrown down or be left to another people."  (Journal of Discourses, 26 vols., 14:, p.307)

Notice here that the word "Church" is nowhere to be found in the above quote.  The term found, however, is "kingdom".  I have the keys of the kingdom of God.  A man that has the keys of the kingdom of God does not even have to be baptized or in the Church. Proof: Joseph Smith was given the keys of the kingdom of God on earth by Peter, James and John before there was any church organized by this same Priesthood. Brigham Young said that Joseph possessed the keys of the kingdom of God independent of the voice of the Church, and at the death of Joseph Smith he said "I do not care who leads this church" whether it be old Ann Lee and that he had the keys of the kingdom of God and the names of finding the mind and will of God on the subject and that if the people do not sustain him and the 12, they would go out into the world and build up a mightier people than they, because they possessed the keys independent of the voice of the people of the Church, should they have chosen Sidney Rigdon. Brigham Young clearly understood this despite the obfuscation of Van Hale. Paul was a prophet before he was ever baptized, and so was I.  I was foreordained to come and do this labor,  and I am going to do it though corrupt men be continually arrayed against me.  I have wrestled in the past Devils much more powerful than Van Hale. The point I'm trying to make is that the Church and the kingdom of God are two separate organizations and always has been Joseph had this set up, the Kingdom prophesied of by Daniel the spring before he was killed. I possess the keys of this Kingdom independent of your voice, saith my God and I shout praise unto Him that I am counted worthy to be evil spoken of by this crowd of scoffers and unbelievers, infidels and craven cowards (for they will not debate me).  The kingdom has not been left to another people, for the spirit is still striving with you and raising me  up to testify unto you and preach unto you, inasmuch as devils and corrupt men will get out of the way. Joseph Smith said that if a man opposes the world of sin he will continually have these arrayed against him:

"He that will war the true Christian warfare against the corruptions of these last days will have wicked men and angels of devils, and all the infernal powers of darkness continually arrayed against him. When wicked and corrupt men oppose, it is a criterion to judge, if a man is warring the Christian warfare. When all men speak evil of you falsely, blessed are ye, etc. Shall a man be considered bad when men speak evil of him? No. If a man stands and opposes the world of sin, he may expect to have all wicked and corrupt spirits arrayed against him. But it will be but a little season, and all these afflictions will be turned away from us, inasmuch as we are faithful, and are not overcome by these evils. By seeing the blessings of the endowment rolling on, the kingdom increasing and spreading from sea to sea, we shall rejoice that we were not overcome by these foolish things." (HC 5:141.)  (Joseph Smith, Discourses of the Prophet Joseph Smith, compiled by Alma P. Burton, p.226)

Van Hale also lied, saying that I said that Mormonism had all been done away with and that I am the only one left.  This is not true. I never said any such thing.  These are words put into my mouth by a liar and hypocrite.  There are many humble followers of Christ who have not bowed the knee to Baal and I have continually acknowledged this to be so, as the liar, Van Halen knows.  God desires to gather this wheat from among the tares, for the devil sowed tares amongst the wheat in fulfillment of the prophecy of Joseph Smith found in the Journal of Mosiah Hancock:

211 And thus it is that that One mighty and strong should be sent unto thee, that ye be tested even in these things, as the Jews by mine Only Begotten, to prove you, saith the Lord, whether ye would be obedient unto me through my Spirit, saith the Lord, for it is that no man knoweth my will but by my Spirit, saith the Lord.

212 For it was that ye, O Ephraim, were scattered among the nations of the Gentiles when it was that I the Father of heaven and of earth did send mine Only Begotten unto them, and I the Father am no respecter of persons, even in the great test.

213 And thus it is that that One mighty and strong should come unto thee, that ye be tested even in these things, to prove you, saith the Lord, whether ye would make the same mistake as them of old, or whether ye would be obedient unto me through my Spirit, saith the Lord, in all things whatosever I the Lord your God, should command you.

214 For is it that ye are different than the Jews, O Ephraim, for unto thee belongeth the birthright, even of Jacob, my chosen, even from before the foundation of the world was it given unto thee, O Israel, that ye should come forth and prove yourselves, even at this time, as did the Jews theirs?

215 And did not I the Lord god not speak through the mouth of my servant Joseph that many would be hoisted into power within my Church, who have broken the New and Everlasting Covenant at this time, and these things because of the money and the worldly learning which they seemed to be in possession of?2

216 And thus the devil, is he not transformed into an angel of light, even in these things, and doth he, the devil, not transform his ministers into ministers of righteousness?

217 For it was that my servant Joseph Smith and Brigham Young prophesied3 these things that they should come to pass, and that One Mighty and Strong, that he should come to set in order the Church, by the power of the scepter which he doth hold in his hand, even the keys of the Apostleship, which he doth hold for his generation as Peter at the gate, doth he hold judgment for this generation.

218 And ye shall be redeemed by power as in days of old, even as Enoch and Moses, when I the Lord God shall speak through his mouth in that day, saith the Lord.

219 And ye shall receive him, saith the Lord, or ye shall be damned and cut of from first to last as the Jews.

220 For he is also a tried and precious stone, also rejected by the builders, as was mine Only Begotten, who is now with me, saith the Father.

221 And thus it is that my friends, saith the Lord, have been cast out from among thy midst, as anciently, O Israel. The Revelations of Jesus Christ, Section 2

"The next day the Prophet came to our home and stopped in our carpenter shop and stood by the turning lathe. I went and got my map for him. `Now,' he said, `I will show you the travels of this people.' He then showed our travels thru Iowa, and said, `Here you will make a place for the winter; and here you will travel west until you come to the valley of the Great Salt Lake! You will build cities to the North and to the South, and to the East and to the West; and you will become a great and wealthy people in that land. *** You will live to see men arise in power in the Church who will seek to put down your friends and the friends of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Many will be hoisted because of their money and the worldly learning which they seem to be in possession of; and many who are the true followers of our Lord and Savior will be cast down because of their poverty.'" (Mosiah Hancock Journal, p. 19)

Mr. Hale accuses me of wanting to draw followers after me, implying that it is out of hubris that motivates him.  To the impure all things are impure.

15 Unto the pure all things [are] pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving [is] nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.

(Titus  1:15)

This characterizes the mind and conscience of Van Hal, this impurity of thought and mind, because of infidelity.  But Orson Pratt and many others said something very similar that would be the object and goal of the one mighty and strong:

Many of this people are perhaps preparing themselves, by following after the world in its mad race for wealth and pleasure, to go down with Babylon when she crumbles and falls; but I know there is a people, in the heart's core of this people, that will arise in their majesty in a day that is near at hand, and push spiritual things to the front; a people who will stand up for God, fearing not man nor what man can do, but believing as the prophet Joseph says, that all things we suffer are for our best good, and that God will stand by us forever and ever. (Des. News, Aug. 11, 1889)

Let the weak knees quake, and the false hearts flutter and tremble; let those of little faith ignore and forsake, if they choose, the holy principles of eternal life committed to their care! Let the winds howl, and the waves dash, and the storms burst forth in all their fury! There are those remaining whom God hath reserved for perilous times, whose knees have never bowed to Baal, whose hands have never faltered, whose hearts have never trembled; . . . These shall stand steadfast, firm-rooted as  the Rock upon which their hopes are built, and though the floods come and the rains descend and the winds blow and beat upon their house, it shall not fall. (Mill. Star 44:314, May 15, 1882)

Orson Pratt:

I do not know but that it would be an utter impossibility to commence and carry out some principles pertaining to Zion right in the midst of this people. They have strayed so far that to get a people who would conform to heavenly laws, it may be needful to lead some from the midst of this people and commence anew somewhere in the regions round about in these mountains.... I do not know how long it will be before this people are brought to the trying point (advent of the One Mighty and Strong, saith the Lord) to see who is and who is not for the Lord; but I would advise the Latter-day Saints to prepare for this, for it may come sooner than some of you expect. If the Lord should undertake to bring about an order of things different from that which now exists, and establish it not exactly in the midst of this people, but in some place where they can commence anew, I hope the people will begin to pray to the Lord, reckon up with themselves and examine their own hearts and see whether they are willing and prepared, if called upon, to place all that they have, or as much as they are required in that order of things, and carry out . . . . In order to bring about this, who knows how many chastisements God may yet have to pour out upon the people calling themselves Latter-day Saints? I do not know. Some times I fear, when I read certain revelations contained in this book. (JD 15:361)

George Q. Cannon:

Before the great day of the Lord shall come, and the day of righteousness and peace dawn upon this fair creation, two potent cleansing processes shall be in active operation. The first of these is a preparation of a choice people, purified by an application to their lives, as [123] individuals and a community, of the principles of the gospel of peace. Such a body will evolve from those called Latter-day Saints, who as a Church possess the fulness and power of the pure plan of salvation. Out of this community at present in the merely incipient stages of development and from the remnant of the whole house of Israel will emanate the nucleus or foundation from which will spring the righteous millennial population of our globe. (Mill. Star 42:585)

Joseph F. Smith:

Do we expect or hope that all the people that are now numbered among the Latter-day Saints will be true and faithful to the end? No, we may justly fear that many will fall by the way. But there will be a sufficient number of this people, and of their children's children, and of the honest in heart who are at present in darkness but who will yet come to a knowledge of the truth, who will be sufficiently faithful to the covenants that they make with God, that the kingdom will never fall or be left to another people. (Des. News, July 7, 1883)

Daniel H. Wells:

Many will doubtless make shipwreck of their faith and will be led away by the allurements of sin into by and forbidden paths; yet the kingdom will not be taken from this people and given to another, but a people will come forth from among us, who will be zealous of good works, willing to do the bidding of the Lord, who will be taught in His ways, and who will walk in His paths. (Des. News, Nov. 6, 1875)

Daniel H. Wells:

And if we as a people do not hold ourselves on the altar ready to be used with our means and all that God has bestowed upon us, according to the Master's bidding, for the upbuilding of His kingdom upon the earth, He will [124] pass on and get somebody else; because He will get a people that will do it. I do not mean to say that He will pass on and leave this people; no, there will come up from the midst of this people that people that has been talked so much about. (Des. News, Dec. 9, 1882)

You may be pleased to know that Daniel Wells had similar stirrings of the spirit and exclaimed (concerning the redemption of Zion) and the following passage strikes at the heart of the difficulty in establishing the Kingdom of God, whether it be with Jong Kim, Aaron, Alex or any other professing or non-professing. Jong has said that he despised me. Well that is because he transferred his own faults to me and so his mind became darkened and because he did not like to retain the knowledge of God in his mind he became foolish and he fell. He thought it should be an intellectual excercise that he could manipulate and wrap his mind around, and there should be no grunting involved. Well he found he could not float above the issues laid before him and everyone who desires to serve God:

God will have a tried people; and all will be put to the test in one way or another. Some things will try some people at one time, and will not try them at another time. Some things will try some people, and they will have no such effect on others. God leads his people through a great variety of changes, that all may be tried; and you may depend upon it that all who come to this point in their travels in the journey of life, will be tested to the heart's core. I have heard some people say, O, I wish I had been in Zion's Camp, and through the persecutions of Missouri; and I wish I had been with the Saints in the days of Illinois, etc.; I can promise every Latter-day Saints that is faithful, that he will have sufficient to try him before he gets through, and the nearer that he lives to his God, the more sore, perhaps, the test that will be made of him; he may rest assured that he will be tried, and tried severely, if he remain faithful. There is and there will be an opportunity for all people to prove their integrity to their God, and their integrity to their brethren, and to the principles of the Gospel that we have espoused. If a person is going to fly the track the moment that difficulty arises, which it is necessary to overcome, what becomes of his integrity, and where is it? It proves to God and to angels and to all good men that he has not integrity, does it not? It is to stand firm and steadfast through every trial, to overcome every obstacle, that brings the prize, allowing nothing to intervene between us and the Lord, or between the Gospel that we have espoused, or between us and the Holy Priesthood who, under God, guides the affairs of His church and kingdom upon the earth; it is to stand up in defence of the truth, and bear off the principles of the Gospel in this wicked and untoward generation. It requires some test, and the Lord will have that kind of people that He can rely on. He could not bestow His kingdom in its power and fullness, in its might and glory upon a people whom He did not know had sufficient integrity to hold sacred that which had been entrusted to them for Him and His cause.

Journal of Discourses, Vol.23, Pg.305 - Pg.306, Daniel H. Wells, October 6,

1882

I have often been asked the question, "When will the kingdom be given into the hands of the Saints of the most high God;" and I have always answered it in this way: just so soon as the Lord finds that He has a people upon the earth who will uphold and sustain that kingdom, who shall be found capable of maintaining its interests and of extending its influence upon the earth. When he finds that he has such a people, a people who will stand firm and faithful to him, a people that will not turn it over into the lap of the devil, then, and not until then, will he give "the kingdom" into the hands of the Saints of the most high, in its power and influence when it shall fill the whole earth. The promise is, that the kingdoms of this world shall become the kingdoms of our God and His Christ; and it shall be given to the Saints of the most high, and it shall stand forever. That is when we may expect it, and we could not reasonably expect it any sooner. Therefore, it depends, in a great measure, upon the people themselves, as to how soon the kingdom spoken of by Daniel shall be given into the hands of the Saints of God. When we shall prove ourselves faithful in every emergency that may arise, and capable to contend and grapple with every difficulty that threatens our peace and welfare, and to overcome every obstacle that may tend to impede the progress of the Church and kingdom of God upon the earth, then our heavenly Father will have confidence in us, and then he will be able to trust us. And it is the Lord's will that it should be so. And if we, as a people, do not hold ourselves on the altar ready to be used, with our means and all that God has bestowed upon us, according to the Master's bidding, for the upbuilding of his kingdom upon the earth, he will pass on and get somebody else; because he will get a people that will do it. I do not mean to say, that he will pass on and leave this people; no, there will come up from the midst of this people that people which has been talked so much about--for the kingdom will not be taken from us and given to another people; it is too late in the day, as it has already commenced to grow, and it is growing and will continue to grow. This kingdom of God has been of rapid growth, although we may think sometimes that it is slow, that the purposes of the Almighty are being slowly developed, but the time will come that this people will look back, say forty years hence, and exclaim how wonderfully, how rapidly has the kingdom progressed, and how powerful has it become in the earth! We can look back to-day from the time that we were located in Missouri, and if any man had predicted the progress that we have made since, he would have been considered somewhat enthusiastic, to say the least of it; and he could not possibly have foretold by his own natural foresight the progress and the prosperity that have attended the labors of the people, and the strength and power that we have attained unto in so short a time. Therefore, we may take courage and press onward, and continue to sustain the holy principles that have been revealed in our day for our reformation and salvation. For these principles tend to reformation, and they will produce the greatest reformation that God has undertaken to bring to pass among the children of men. When we consider the nature of this work and its results among men, it would be quite proper to call it a reformation. It is reformation and it is restitution; it brings us back to first principles; it brings us back to the purity of the most holy faith; it is also reformation from the status of the evil-doer and from the evils that are prevalent in the earth.

I end with my testimony, that this work is true in the name of Messiah.  Amen.
